Hugo Balta is a Multimedia News Executive, Diversity & Inclusion expert, Management Trainer, Talent Coach and president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).
Hugo is the former Senior Director of Multicultural Initiatives at the Disney ABC Television Group (DATG), who led a start-up unit focused on initiatives to raise the quality, profile and delivery of diverse news gathering and storytelling. One of his responsibilities was the creation of video and multimedia content targeting the US Hispanic audience across all platforms
Also, Hugo is a diversity and inclusion media consultant, a sought after guest speaker and writer. He is the current president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) having serving a second term (first term 2012-2014). He is a member of the advisory board with the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) and Hispanicize.
Hugo has been recognized as “One of the Most Influential Hispanics In Sports” by Sports Illustrated.
He is a best selling author sharing his experience in monthly articles (many published by renowned organizations) and a new book: Leadership Habits
Hugo is an award winning journalism veteran of more than 20 years who’s experience includes CBS, Telemundo and NBC before joining ESPN.
He lives in Central Connecticut with his wife Adriana and two children, Isabella and Esteban.
